Art Installation
Walter Bortolossi – Installation
The installation presents a selection of paintings exploring the relationship between the Vienna Circle, Robert Musil, and some of the most significant cultural and technological transformations of the contemporary world.
Through images that bring together philosophy, the history of science, politics, economics and technology, the project connects the confidence in scientific rationality that emerged in early twentieth-century Vienna with some of its most radical contemporary developments, represented by artificial intelligence, Big Tech and transhumanist theories.
Rather than illustrating a philosophical thesis, the works create a space for reflection in which different historical periods, historical figures and contemporary scenarios coexist within the same image, suggesting connections, tensions and contradictions.
The installation combines paintings and everyday objects that enter into dialogue with one another, bringing together the abstraction of scientific ideas, technological innovation and the concreteness of everyday life. For this occasion, the works are assembled into a site-specific installation conceived as a space for reflection and dialogue with the themes of the conference, where painting becomes a means of critically investigating modernity and its most recent developments.
